If you help me pick out the yarn we should ply the next yarn with, I get extra treats!

Harvey, who no one can refuse!

Sampson gets everything. It's just not fair. If you write in and tell me which yarn you'd like the next new yarn plied with, I get extra treats. I need help. Sam shouldn't always get everything. I need treats. I can't live without treats. Write in fast!!!

I like the one on the bottom left. It's pinkish and purply and tealyish and nubbly, but I need your help. Which one should we use?

Harvey, the youngest pug in the house. The biggest eyes. I have the sweetest personality. And don't tell Maitri I wrote in here. I don't think she'd like me being so sneaky...

Sampson Helps With The Plying Of The First Fairy Fleece Handspun Yarn About To Go Up In The Shop...

Sampson, Velcro Pug & Plying Supervisor....

Sampson: Okay, first of all show them how you were going to spin the yarn from all of that pretty sparkly "fairy fleece" leftover from spinning the first eight batts.

Maitri: I already did that. It's a couple of entries down right here. One doesn't want to be redundant.

Sampson: You're redundant a lot...
Maitri: Well, you needn't embarrass me by saying things like that in public. Anyway, we're talking about plying the new yarn.

Sampson: Yes, well, I was in charge of picking out the sparkly black, white and gold plying yarn. I made a very good choice. What you chose was dreadful.

Maitri: That's why I have you. If pugs can't earn their keep they're not getting any treats.

Sampson (Startled): WELL, you needn't be rude... (Sniff...)

Maitri: Get on with it Sam. Show them the yarn.

Sampson: Well, I picked this yarn out because the yarn Maitri just handspun on one of her 176 spindles --

Maitri: I don't have that many, stop exaggerating. You'll make me look bad.

Sampson: Okay, 123.

Maitri: Just get on with it.

Sampson: Well, I picked this out. It is actually very sparkly just like the yarn Maitri spun, but she can't take a good picture to save her patootski --

Maitri: Language Sampson!

Sampson: Okay, here's the plying yarn...

Maitri: Well, you actually did do a pretty good job Sam. It does look pretty with the yarn I've already plied...

Sampson: I think it needs more blue and black and --

Maitri: That part hasn't been plied yet. It's still on the first spindle...

Sampson: Well, you'd better do a good job. If you don't shake a leg and get more things in the shop you're not going to help the rescue much, and even more important, we won't get enough treats.

Maitri: I'm trying Sam, I'm trying. Now, you go eat your dinner. I've got to get back to it and finish the yarn.

Sampson, heading for food bowl: Okay, but shake a leg, and I'd better have something good in my bowl.

Maitri: You'll eat what's there. This isn't a cafeteria.

Sampson: I'll starve. Look at me, I'm wasting away.

Maitri: Aw, poor Sam. Well, I'll knit you up a purple sweater with orange polka dots and you can wear it all the time and nobody will notice that -- Sam? Sampson???

(There isn't a pug in the house. They're all hiding, aghast at the thought of wearing Maitri's unusual creations.)

Maitri: Well, I'll just get back to plying and finish this yarn so I can ply the next one. I'm going to pick out the plying yarn myself.

Sam, whispering to Harvey under the bed: Oh, she wouldn't. She just wouldn't. She'll embarrass us all.

Maitri, chuckling and going back to ply....

A Tribute To My First Pug Babs Who Passed Away Just Before The Shop Opened...

Dear Friends,

I have just today been finally able to write a tribute to my sweet little pug Babs, the little girl that started it all, the first of my four pugs adopted from Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue. The Pug Love Fiber Art shop on etsy is dedicated to Babs and her picture is there now because I named one of the items for sale after her, a spinner's batt named "Little Black Babs With A Cherry On Top!"

You will find a very long blog entry about loving and losing Babs, what she taught me, and her final days when finally she went to sleep in my arms for the last time with my beloved vet overseeing the transition. You can click on her picture here to visit my other blog and read her story. My heart is still aching as it always shall when I think of her, but she is now at peace, and knowing that I can do something for other little pugs in need in her honor helps a lot.

Treasure your little ones. They bless us so dearly and leave us all too soon, no matter how long we have with them...

What you will see very soon in the shop! Pug Love Art Yarns in the making!

Dear Fibery Puggish Friends,

As I open the shop today with the first batch of batts I am hard at work on making several types of Art Yarns that will be up by next week. I am very excited about the yarns and have many more ever wilder and more colorful yarns to come. Here are two yarns spun still on the spindles. The one on the left is a "Pug Fun Yarn," the wilder of the Art Yarns. You can just imagine pugs frolicking amongst the fibers, hither and yon, throwing anything toward their spinning mama so that I will blend them into the fiber mix to spin. This yarn will not actually be finished until the final step when it is being taken off the spindle and plied.

The yarn on the right is what I call "Fairy Fleece Yarn," because it is unbelieably soft and lofty and made from many small piles of blends from a great many different types of fibers and colors left over from the batt making process, in this case from the first 9 batts ready to go in the shop. It is vibrant, sparkly, and beautiful.

"Fairy Fleece Yarn" waiting to be spun from
the leftover fiber blends from the first 9 batts
going up in the store today...

"Fairy Fleece Yarn" spun...

The empty spindle in the middle I will use to spin the batt it is lying on. Here is a closeup of the batt itself, a beautiful array of purples, blues and a dash of wine, and very very sparkly...

The yarn spun from this yarn is one of my
"Batty For Pugs" yarns because it will be
spun directly from a finished batt made
just for the yarn to be spun. There are a
great many elements in this batt and I
can't wait to see the finished yarn.

Soon I will begin to spin the first of "Big Bertha's Puggy Yarns." Those yarns will be spun on my Bulky Electric Babe Spinner ("Big Bertha!") so that I can create larger amounts of beautiful, colorful yarns for the fiber artist who needs more yarn for a project than the smaller amounts the Art Yarns will yield. All of them are great fun to spin and have their own distinctive qualities. Stay tuned for many yarns to come to enter the shop!

The puggery yarns are on their way! Let the fun begin!

Fibery Fun to one and all,

Pug Love Fiber Art shop opening on etsy today! Finally!

The batts are going up today, by the weekend the art yarns will start to go up, more are in the works, and I am working on the first big fiber art piece that will take awhile to make because of the size and complexity. I will also be taking Special Custom Orders for batts and yarns as time permits. For fun I'm going to show you the new business card and thank you card that will go in with my orders with a personal note from me and who knows what other little surprises will find their way into the packages!

Front of Business Card:

Back of Card:
(Sam says thank you!)

... and the thank you postcard that will go in the orders...

My three puggeries are on the bottom: Coco, Harvey
& Sampson. my velcro pug!

And this week I will start showing items that will end up in the shop in the process of being made. I think it's fun to see and appreciate the handmade process of the work, the thing that makes each piece of work special. I hope you'll enjoy it soon...

Blessings and Joy and Happy Fibery Fun to You!

And having a pug or three really makes the work more fun. Check out the Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue site to at least enjoy the wee tiny funny dogs and read their stories. They will win you heart. They have changed my life...

Love and Pugs!
